Responsibilities and Requirements

Our client seeks a Senior Graphics Engineer to join their dynamic distributed team. This role is crucial in pushing the visual boundaries of their game, ensuring a stunning and immersive experience for players.

  • Design and implement advanced graphics features, including rendering pipelines, shaders, lighting, and post-processing effects to achieve a high visual quality.
  • Collaborate with artists and designers to bring their visual concepts to life within the technical constraints of the Unity engine.
  • Optimise rendering performance to ensure smooth gameplay on a wide range of hardware.
  • Develop and maintain tools and workflows that streamline the creation and integration of graphics assets.
  • Debug and resolve graphics-related issues reported by the team or players.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in graphics technology and evaluate their potential application to our projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to enhance their development skills.

About You

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in graphics programming for video games, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Unity and its rendering systems.
    • Strong understanding of graphics APIs such as DirectX, OpenGL, Vulkan, or Metal.
    • Expertise in shader programming (HLSL/GLSL/Cg).
    • Solid understanding of GPU architecture and optimisation techniques.
    • Experience with performance profiling and optimisation tools.
    • Strong programming skills in C# and C++.
  • Problem-Solving:
    • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills, especially related to graphics issues.
    • Ability to optimise graphics performance without compromising visual quality.
  • Collaboration:
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with artists, designers, and other engineers.
    • Ability to translate artistic vision into technical solutions that align with performance goals.
  • Passion:
    • A passion for video games and a deep understanding of how graphics contribute to the overall player experience.

Desirable bonus qualifications include:

  • Experience with physically based rendering (PBR) and deferred rendering techniques.
  • Familiarity with ARPGs or similar game genres.
  • Knowledge of other game engines and their rendering systems.
  • Experience with real-time ray tracing and global illumination techniques.
